We have perfected our unique look and appearance, whether it’s something we patented ourselves or took a little inspiration from the pros. Everything appears lovely on the surface. We can pucker up in the mirror with plenty of selfies in hand, yet things might not be so lush underneath. That’s not to say we’re unhealthy. It’s just that our skin and hair can get damaged by many factors. 

It’s true that when we perfect an overall appearance or look for ourselves, we’re on top of our game. However, we shouldn’t forget from where it all stems. In other words, we need to make sure our inner beauty is on point. Sure, makeup and expensive hair products can help us style ourselves to perfection. But ultimately, we need to care for our beauty from the inside out. All we need to do is take 5 minutes or so everyday to keep our skin and locks in good condition. Here are a few tips to try for healthier glowing skin and flowing locks. 

Looking After Your Skin

Your skin is your canvas, and you work with it to create good looks day in and out. That means we need to take time to keep it healthy and happy. Mindful skincare is absolutely essential and will make you feel good inside and out. 

It can be quite easy for you to implement a good skincare routine if you know the basic ins and outs. All you need is about 5 minutes per day and these 5 main products. Basically, you need a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, a bit of sunscreen, and an exfoliator. Usually you can get these all wrapped up in one product, but it might work better for your skin to get them separately.

Cleanser can make your skin quite red due to the nature of opening up your pores to empty out the dirt and oils collected there. So, use a spot of toner to calm down the redness. Find the right moisturizer for you and apply it after you wash your face. Apply a thin layer when your face is still damp. Exfoliate a couple times a week, and put sunscreen on whenever you go out, even when the sun isn’t in sight.

Quick Solutions for Your Hair

Hair and flowing locks are a big part of any look and overall appearance. Let’s face it, there are many factors that can damage hair. Perhaps you wash it too often or use too many (or too little) oils. Or you’ve exposed your hair to too much heat damage. Or, you’ve dyed it wrong one too many times. Every choice we can make with our hair feels like we’re playing a bit of a losing game, despite how great it can make us look. However, if we know a few areas where we can go wrong and avoid that, we can keep our hair in good condition for a lot longer.

If you have split ends, it’s a good early warning sign that your hair needs a little loving, so don’t ignore these when they pop up. Whilst they may be hard to treat, they’re not impossible to deal with. The best thing to do is to trim them off regularly to keep the hair healthy. Try and cut down on your hair brushing, and give your hair a day of rest or two if you use many styling products.

You could go in for a heavier treatment if you feel it’s necessary. Maybe your follicles just aren’t growing the hair you want or you think it’s thin and lifeless. Combatting the Effects of Stress

Stress can do a lot of damage to our skin and flowing locks. Sometimes, it feels like there’s nothing we can do to stop it.   Stress is perhaps the number one problem that can affect our appearance. Wrinkles, sagging skin and crow’s feet are all common effects that may come from battling daily stress.

But it doesn’t have to last! Some of the best things to do can be done in a few minutes, once again, and can have far lasting effects for our good health. Make sure you take regular breaks, as a working lunch shouldn’t be a habit by any means. We’re not obligated to dedicate all 24 hours in a day to work!

Similarly, making sure we have at least a couple days off a week does excellent work for our wellness. However, that isn’t always possible when we need to make as much money as we can. So this can once again be substituted with regular breaks when we’re at work, and going for a walk or a good stretch whilst we’re on them. If that isn’t for you, and if you’re on your feet all day, take a nice long sit down instead!

Our overall appearance can get damaged in multiple areas, such is the nature of health and the natural course of aging. Whilst it can be slow to change, we can try to stop it in its tracks!
