Every ad and billboard you pass on the street promises to reveal to you the “secret” of losing weight. People pay big bucks to try and lose the extra pounds, but often times it doesn’t work. The truth is, there is no magical potion or secret ingredient that will make the pounds fall off. The real secret of weight loss is found within you- it’s your mindset.
It’s not enough to want to lose weight; in fact, most people want to lose at least 5 pounds or more. You have to be willing to put in the work that it takes to lose the weight, and create a healthy lifestyle. Abs are made in the kitchen, so your daily eating habits have got to change if you want to be healthy. This means that you need to work at it every single day, until something in you clicks and you realize that food is meant to fuel your body. Once you understand the true meaning of what food is, you are that much closer to the lifestyle you want.
If you think that you will cut out carbs for a few weeks, lose some weight, and then be “done,” I will tell you right now that your results won’t last. Fad diets are not a good choice for many reasons, especially because they are not maintainable. You can’t go back to your old habits and expect that the weight will stay off. Not only that, but you might be harming your body in the long run. Fad diets are known to increase your risk of diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
The healthiest and easiest way to “diet” is by eating clean, natural foods. I really dislike the word diet, because we all know what comes to mind when we hear that word. Diets have a beginning and an end, and they usually restrict one or more food groups. Once you have the right mindset you will know that this is not a sustainable way to lose weight and be a healthier version of you.
The bottom line is that you have to be willing to put in the work and do what you have to do in order to get where you want. I am a firm believer that the hardest part of weight loss is keeping the right mindset. You have to work at it every day in order to stay focused on the prize. Things that keep me motivated are following inspirational people on social media, and reading inspirational quotes. Try keeping motivational post its in random places, so that you will see them throughout your day.
If you are looking for a quick fix, or easy way out, the time probably isn’t right for you. I have tried and failed many times, and the one time I actually succeeded was the time that my mindset was consistent. There are so many different ways that you can lose weight, but picking the safest, healthiest, and most reasonable option is what you need to do. You have to convince yourself that there is no “end date,” and then you won’t have to deal with yo-yo dieting for the rest of your life. Once you change your mindset, you can change your life.
